Donate Supplies to Our Four-Legged Friends

Tis the season of giving and as a dog friendly building, who better to give back to then our four-legged friends!

From Monday, December 17 – Friday, January 4 Starrett-Lehigh will be collecting dog supplies for Villalobos Rescue Center! Based in New Orleans, VRC is a rescue, rehabilitation, and placement facility for abused and abandoned Pit Bulls and other breeds. VRC works ceaselessly to give Pit Bulls and other dogs another chance in life. Each and EVERY dog taken in, gets spayed or neutered, and given any medical treatment necessary. VRC works patiently to re-acclimatize fearful dogs to the loving care of a human, so that they may eventually be adopted.

Any and all supplies are welcome including food, bedding, toys, etc. Donations can be dropped off in bins in the front lobby and outside the property management office on 2M.

FAST FACTS ABOUT VRC: 
1. VRC takes in approximately 100 dogs a month
2. Average adoption rate is about 30-40 dogs a month
3. Largest Pit Bull facility in the world with a daily average of 300-400 dogs
4. It costs approximately $8000/day to run Villalobos Rescue Center
5. They go through 7000 pounds or more of dog food a week
6. The yearly vet bill averages $500K
7. The name “Villalobos” means House of Wolves (in Spanish) as they started off as a wolf rescue in the early 90’s. Became a Pit Bull rescue in 1994 and kept the name 
8. They are featured on Animal Planet – “Pit Bulls and Parolees”
