A Panel Discussion on the Hunger Crisis!
The American food system is broken. Over 50% of edible material ends up in a landfill, and in spite of this waste, over 10% of US households face food insecurity.
Join moderator Amer Jandali (Founder, Future Meets Present and CSI Innovator in Residence) and panelists from City Harvest, Food Bank for New York City, and Bad Apple Produce to learn more about the intersection of food waste and hunger in the NYC metro area. We’ll discuss the key legal, cultural, and economic drivers that create inefficiencies in the NYC food system, and brainstorm solutions for fighting hunger in a city with over 2.5 million food-insecure residents. Fruit and refreshments will be provided by Bad Apple Produce.
The discussion with be hosted at CSI in Suite 325 on Thursday, November 21, 6pm-8pm.
There is a suggested donation at the door ($10) to support City Harvest and Food Bank’s efforts to address hunger in New York City.
